Set up in 2021 by Giovanni Litti in Belgium and Luxembourg, the ESG & Sustainability department strategically advises property owners, investors, developers and occupiers, whatever their real estate activities, on sustainability, the mitigation of environmental impact throughout the life cycle of buildings, the decarbonisation of asset portfolios, the optimisation of construction, renovation and operation projects for existing buildings, as well as ESG strategy and certification.
Acting as a centre of excellence in ESG and sustainability for real estate clients in Belgium and Luxembourg, the department can count on 4 local experts, backed by a global network of more than 600 ESG and sustainability specialists within CBRE.
With more than 20 years' experience as head of an architectural practice and project manager, as well as 10 years teaching project management at the UCLouvain's Faculty of Architecture, Benoît Cruysmans has acquired solid experience in a variety of fields, including residential, retail, logistics, hotels, educational real estate and office design. He also completed an EMBA at the Solvay Brussels School and initiated the development of the ESG service offering in another real estate services company.
Benoît Cruysmans, ESG & Sustainability Director BeLux, comments: "I am delighted to be joining a department as dynamic and strategic as the ESG & Sustainability one. There is no doubt that the combination of our respective expertise and vision, as well as the contribution of an ever-growing team, make the ESG & Sustainability department the essential partner for real estate players, both in Belgium and Luxembourg."
Giovanni Litti has over 10 years' experience in sustainable development, gained both academically and in design offices. He holds a master's degree in architecture and energy and environmental renovation of the built environment from the Sapienza University of Rome. He also completed a doctorate and post-doctorate in green building engineering at the University of Antwerp.
Giovanni Litti, ESG & Sustainability Director BeLux, adds: "The constantly evolving ESG regulations, both at local and European level, and the growing awareness of the various environmental challenges, offer more than ever exceptional opportunities for our clients. To be successful, however, these opportunities need to be properly identified, analysed and monitored. Our team, backed by solid fundamentals, is more than ever able to provide answers to our clients' questions.”
Benoît Cruysmans, Giovanni Litti and their team join CBRE’s 250 experts, operating across 22 European countries, delivering transformational strategy and implementation to fulfil our client's environmental and social ambitions. With about 40% of the world’s carbon emissions coming from the built environment, CBRE is already helping hundreds of companies to effectively plan, deploy and measure success in their transition to a low carbon economy.
