Office Space of the Year is a European, CBRE-wide contest that rewards the continuous efforts and investments made by companies to build great workplaces for their employees. For this second Belgian edition, 27 applications from all over Belgium were received and assessed by a professional jury composed of Amaury de Crombrugghe (Chief Investment Officer, AG Real Estate); Christine Conix (CEO, CONIX RDBM Architects); Idriss Goossens (Co-founder, PropTech Lab Belgium); Loïc Bologne (Head of Facility & Procurement, EVS Broadcast Equipment) and Maxime Kumpen (CEO, CBRE Belgium & Luxembourg). The jury members based themselves on several aspects impacting people in their daily life at work, amongst which well-being, technology and design of the office space.
In addition to granting the “Office Space of the Year” Award, the Jury dedicated five special achievement awards:
- Special Award “Best Lobby”: D'Ieteren Immo HQ
- Special Award “Wellness”: Bessa Benelux
- Special Award “Technology-advanced Office”: D'Ieteren Immo HQ
- Special Award “Small office”: Bewire
- Special Award “Co-working space”: Fosbury & Sons
Jacobs Douwe Egberts also won the Public Voting prize, consisting of a Vitra Panton chair personalized by the Brussels artist Oli-B, thanks to the 240+ likes accumulated on their Instagram pictures, posted on the contest’s official Instagram page.
“The high participation rate in our contest and the diversity of approaches used to make office space attractive illustrate how important it is for companies and co-working spaces to create a quality working environment. It is therefore not surprising that employee engagement and talent attraction & development have become two of the three most important drivers of corporate real estate strategy, according to CBRE’s latest EMEA Occupier Survey,“ explains Maxime Kumpen, CEO of CBRE Belgium & Luxembourg.
Office Space of the Year was organized by CBRE in partnership with Vitra. The contest’s third Belgian edition will be launched in early 2020.
