Antwerp, City of Diamonds is welcoming Gold Bar Antwerp, a pop-up bar aiming at bringing a Sparkle to People’s Life through a unique concept in which food and drinks will be served with a touch of (edible) gold.
At a prime location in iconic shopping centre Grand Bazar Antwerp, next to Hilton Old Town, edible golden products will be served in a golden interior. The gift shop will offer a unique sparkling wine with edible golden flakes.
The pop-up bar was created by Harue, a Japanese business woman living in Antwerp, who was inspired by the Japanese habit of drinking Gold Sake at the start of a new year, as it brings Good Luck, Good Health and Good Fortune.
Unique approach
Grand Bazar Antwerp is managed by the Property and Asset Management division of CBRE, the world's largest commercial real estate services and investment firm.
“When we were asked to enrol the Gold Bar project for charity in one of the centres managed by us, we immediately could see its potential to raise money for charity and to create a unique experience for our visitors,” says Steven Bervoets, Head of Shopping Centre Management CBRE Belgium & Luxembourg. “At CBRE we do believe that besides our commercial responsibility (creating unique experiences in and enhancing the value of our shopping centres), we also have a social responsibility such as raising money for charity. The profit of this pop-up bar will therefore go to charity that aims at bringing a Sparkle to People’s Life: the Make a Wish Foundation.”
The pop-up bar can be found on the shopping centre’s ground floor, next to the Eiermarkt entrance.
About Grand Bazar Antwerp
We must go back to 1884 to find the first traces of the shopping centre, which has at that time the simple name "Grand Bazar", part of the department store group of the same name. After the renovation of the building in 2011, the shopping centre changed its name to Grand Bazar Antwerp. It is located on the Groenplaats, and forms the connection between the historical and commercial centre of Antwerp. Grand Bazar Antwerp has 50 shops spread on four levels. With its 19,000 m² of floor space and attractions such as Fnac, Vanden Borre, Mango and Carrefour Market, Grand Bazar Antwerp still plays a prominent role in the Antwerp retail landscape.
